Magali Dougoud is a Swiss artist whose practice focuses on dismantling
dominant historical and scientific narratives in order to bring
forth other possible subjectivities. Through her films, sound works,
performances, and installations, she develops an emancipatory feminist
imaginary shaped by notions such as liquidity, violence, and plural
and interspecies intelligence. Inspired by hydrofeminism and the
idea that we are all “bodies of water,” her research proposes a liquid
embodiment form, in which alterity becomes a space for emancipation,
transformation, and multiplication. Rooted in situated practices,
her work engages specific social and ecological contexts through
research and local collaborations. She develops interspecies perspectives
that decenter human experience and foreground entangled forms
of knowledge, care, and coexistence. Her latest solo exhibition at the
Musée d’art du Valais in Sion (2026) explores connections between
two distinct contexts—Kinshasa and Valais—through water as a common
resource and the role of women in its care. She has participated
in numerous exhibitions and festivals in Switzerland and abroad, and
has been in residencies in Berlin, Paris, Kinshasa, and Buenos Aires.
In 2026, she undertook a residency at the Akademie Schloss Solitude
in Stuttgart.
