Veronica Strang

Veronica Strang is a cultural anthropologist affiliated to the University of Oxford. She has conducted ethnographic research in Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Her work focuses on human–environment relations and in particular societies’ engagements with water. She has worked with UNESCO and the United Nations on water and sustainability issues, and has supported Indigenous communities in land and water claims. Her research has contributed to debates on non-human rights, and her most recent book, describing a major comparative study on water deities, is entitled Water Beings: From Nature Worship to the Environmental Crisis
