This exhibition subjectively highlights the literary group OULIPO – L’Ouvroir de littérature potentielle/workshop of potential literature and outlines its ramified influences on the literature, art, film, and theater of the 20th and 21st centuries. With a selection by Jürgen Ritte of printed material and other media (books, journals, posters, recordings, films), the aesthetic innovations of the still existing group, which included Raymond Queneau, François Le Lionnais, Georges Perec, Harry Mathews, and others, is explored not only in the context of literature but also cross-faded into a perspective onto the arts as a whole. Events against the background of the objects will trace the legacy and possible sightlines of an art that particularly oscillates between existence and play, freedom and compulsion, experiment and experience.
