Brigitte Weingart is Professor for Media Theory at Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin/UdK). She is also a principal investigator at the Collaborative Research Center 1512, “Intervening Arts”, where she directs a study group on internet memes. The “meme team” also runs the website memecultures.de. Weingart's work focuses on media practices of appropriation, images and ideas of contagion, the aesthetics and media history of fascination, and celebrity culture.
