is professor for applied dance studies and choreography at the University of Music and Dance Cologne since 2009. After completing her Ph.D. in theatre studies and history, she became a faculty member of the Theater Department of the Free University of Berlin, where she helped to install a Master program in dance studies. Afterwards she was Assistant Professor for Dance, Choreography and Dance Studies at the University of California Berkeley. In her research, she is interested in developing dance studies on methodological grounds, focusing on the relation between praxis and theory, and especially on performative elements of »doing history«. Further research areas are dance and media as well as postcolonial theory.
works as a research associate and lecturer at the Center for Contemporary Dance at the University of Music and Dance Cologne. Her main research interests are theory and practice of performing arts, dance and media as well as gender and media. After finishing her studies with a Masters degree in Theatre and Media Studies at the University of Cologne in 2007, she was a trainee at the dance theater Pina Bausch in Wuppertal. As a choreographer and performer she has realized a wide range of projects such as inter-media stage performances, short-films and dance-installations.
