studied chemistry and sociology and wrote his PhD thesis in philosophy (on the notion of substance, 1996). Having worked as professor of philosophy in Brazil for a few years, he is since 2002 scientific director at the Environment Science Center of Augsburg University. He realized three successful interactive science exhibitions (on dust, on CO2 and on Nitrogen). He is author and co-editor of the substance stories book series, that publishes historical accounts on politically relevant substances such as CO2, Aluminum, Rare Earth Elements. His research interests are in the field of material culture studies, science studies, science communication, rhetoric and the history of science.
